Why work with Lindsey Caplan

What makes my approach different

I’ve led change from the inside

I know what it takes to make change happen inside real organizations. I’ve carried the pressure, navigated the politics, and led teams through strategy shifts, culture change, and organizational transformation. That experience helps me design moments that don’t just sound good in theory, but actually work in practice.

I use a proven framework to diagnose why change isn’t landing

My science-based Moved Model™ helps leaders see why a message, meeting, or moment is falling flat — and what to do differently to create more ownership, alignment, and follow-through.

I work as a strategic partner, not just a presenter

I don’t hand over recommendations and disappear. I partner with leaders from design through delivery to help ensure an important moment actually lands across the organization.

I bring a distinctive mix of psychology, story, and strategy

My work combines organizational psychology, behavioral science, and the craft of storytelling. I started my career in Hollywood writing comedy, where I learned how structure, timing, and emotion shape attention and action. I now apply those same principles to organizational change.

About Lindsey Caplan

I help leaders make major changes actually land across their organizations

I’m a screenwriter turned organizational psychologist who works with leaders on the high-stakes moments that determine whether people align, buy in, and act.

Before starting The Gathering Effect, I worked in Hollywood on shows including Curb Your Enthusiasm and Malcolm in the Middle, where I learned how story, rhythm, and structure shape emotion and influence groups.

I later moved into organizational psychology, working in learning and development roles at companies including DreamWorks Animation, McKinsey, Zendesk, Credit Karma, and Flexport. Along the way, I saw the same pattern again and again: smart strategies often fail not because they’re wrong, but because the moments meant to introduce them don’t move people.

That became the focus of my work.

Today, I help leaders design strategy rollouts, reorganizations, leadership offsites, onboarding experiences, and other pivotal moments so people don’t just hear the message — they take ownership of it.

I hold a Master’s in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s in Communication and Creative Writing for the Media from Northwestern University.

My clients come to me when the stakes are high, the room matters, and the cost of a flat or forgettable moment is too great.
